Judge Valdez's Judicial Philosophy
As the Juvenile Court judge, Judge Valdez believes that every young person
deserves both accountability and the opportunity to turn their life around. Her
role is to ensure justice is fair and compassionate. It is also rooted in rehabilitation, helping guide youth toward a future where they can be productive and responsible members of our community. Operating County Court at Law No. 6 as a “Trauma-Informed” court has led to better outcomes for the youth involved, including increased engagement with the process, reduced recidivism, and improved mental health. By balancing public safety with second chances and meeting the needs of each youth, Judge Valdez works to protect our community today while investing in a stronger, healthier tomorrow for all.
For Judge Valdez, serving over civil matters in County Court at Law No. 6 is about ensuring fairness, upholding the rule of law, and protecting the rights of every individual who comes before the court. Within CCL#6 civil docket, Judge Valdez handles matters that deeply impact people’s lives, disputes over contracts and landlord-tenant relationships, personal injury, family matters, and other conflicts that shape relationships and livelihoods. Judge Valdez’s role is to provide a fair forum where every voice is heard, to interpret and apply the law with impartiality, and to make decisions that foster justice, resolution, and community trust. Serving in this capacity, she is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the judicial process and ensuring that justice is not only done but is seen to be done.
